Bed bugs are more than a nuisance. They can also create health hazards for humans and pets.

The most challenging part of dealing with a bed bug problem is they are very difficult to see because of their size. On a good day, one of the little creatures could be smaller than a pencil eraser. They are also great little hiders that are able to find refuge in the smallest of cracks and crevices. Oh, they love to create their homes in mattresses/bedding and furniture cushions. Hence, the name “bed bugs.”

Since they reproduce quickly and can create serious health hazards, you can’t live with them. You have to take steps to get rid of them as soon as you know they exist. To help you in that endeavour, here are seven (7) tips for eradicating bed bugs. Note: These tips are listed in order to represent how bug extermination from a professional exterminator like Exterminateurs Associés might be considered a last resort option.

Find the 1nfestation Area or Areas

Initially, it will be very difficult for you to realize bedbugs have come home to roost in your home. When they first arrive, they are very good about hiding their whereabouts as they set up home. The first sign you have a bed bud problem might well be when they start biting you or your family members.

When you get that first indication the bugs are among you, you need to find out where they are nesting. There are two signs for which you can be looking. First, you should be looking for larger concentrations of bugs. That’s a good indication the nest is nearby. Second, these little nuisances will give out a “musky” odour when there is a large concentration of them in a small area.

Areas of concern would be baseboards, furniture cushions, under the mattress, electrical outlets, areas of concentrated trash (stack of newspapers, etc.), and wall and furniture cracks.

2. Containment

After you figure out the source or sources of the problem, you need to contain it and prevent it from getting worse. Remember, these bugs reproduce very quickly. A small, manageable problem can very quickly turn into a huge infestation.

Your containment efforts should include vacuuming up infested areas and cleaning all surfaces and materials that are connected with the infested area. Everything you can identify as infected should be sealed in plastic bags until discarded or washed. You would want and need to toss all vacuum cleaner bags and dispose of anything you don’t really need.

3. Clean-Up in Preparation for Treatment

After addressing the source of the problem and containing it, you need to get ready to treat infested areas. That should include putting away books, papers, clothes that are lying around, disposing of all trash, and removing loose items from infested areas.

After doing the initial cleanup, you should consider sealing cracks (floor, ceiling, wallpaper, furniture), sealing up of electrical outlets (favourite bedbug hiding place), and moving all furniture, especially your bed or beds, at least six inches away from any walls and other furniture. This will prevent the bugs from being able to climb on cleaned furniture.

4. Deep Clean All Applicable Furniture Bug

If you are going to attempt to eradicate bed bugs on your own, it’s best to try non-chemical options first. That is going to require deep cleaning of everything in areas where you saw at least one bug.

Hint: Bedbugs do not like extremely hot and cold conditions. You can kill them at hot temperatures of at least 115°F and cold temperatures below 32°F.

Here are a few deep cleaning suggestions to eliminate these bugs:

Wash clothes and bedding materials in hot water with detergent for 30 minutes, subsequently drying everything at hot heat

On hot days above 95°F, you can sit furniture and contaminated items outside all day long

Put bags of contaminated items in the freezer at 0°F temperatures for at least four days

Steam clean furniture, flooring, and walls with hot steam and cleaning chemicals

If you decide to try chemicals and insecticides, we would recommend the following: Pyrethrins and pyrethroids, pyrroles like chlorfenapyr, neonicotinoids nicotine), desiccants, and perhaps foggers and bug bombs. Note: Be wary of using chemicals that are harmful to humans.

To Eradicate Bed Bugs, Eliminate Possible Hiding Places

As you put everything back together and or in place, you will want to make sure you eliminate potential hiding places. Do one more check for cracks and crevices. Don’t store paper items and clothing on counters or the floor. You might want to consider sealing mattresses and furniture cushions in anti-bug covers or plastic.

6. Monitor for Success

After you have identified hiding places, thoroughly cleaned everything, and sealed up possible hiding places, you need to spend the next few weeks monitoring the results. A daily check of the areas where the infestations were the worse could help you identify an ongoing issue before it becomes a major problem once again.

7. Hire a Professional Exterminator

Many times, the elimination of these annoying little bugs is too much for a layperson to handle. Bug extermination can be a tedious and time-consuming process when administered by someone who has little to no experience in dealing with bed-bug issues.

If problems persist after your initial efforts, that would be the right time to consult with a professional exterminator like the Exterminateurs Associés. With the right knowledge base, experience, and chemicals, professional exterminators stand a much higher chance of success than you would, especially if your infestation were to be significant.

Find out how seasonal changes influence mouse and rat infestations, and learn how to identify warning signs to effectively protect your home all year round.

Montreal’s varied climate favors the appearance of various species of rodents, including mice and rats. Understanding how climate change affects these pests can help residents opt for effective year-round measures.

Signs of infestation to look for in spring

When spring arrives, the rise in temperature stimulates the activity of small rodents. Mice and rats, which have taken refuge indoors during the cold season, start actively exploring their outdoor environment. The aim is to find nesting sites and food sources.

Now is the time to look for the following traces in your home or warehouse:

rodent droppings (especially in food storage areas);

scratching noises in the attic or walls.

Bite marks on electrical cables, skirting boards or other surfaces
on wooden surfaces.

Mouse infestation indicators in summer

During the hot and sometimes humid summer months, the number of unwanted rodents tends to increase. Milder weather conditions become more conducive to their reproduction, which can lead to an increase in the number of mice or rats. The signs of a mouse infestation are generally :

the increasing presence of these rodents in parks, gardens and/or near garbage cans.

damage caused by these pests to outdoor structures and crops.

Another clue: when mice communicate with each other, you can hear high-pitched squeals. Especially when they feel threatened.

Rodents in autumn

With the onset of autumn, rodents begin to prepare for the colder months. Many try to find warm, isolated shelters. Buildings and homes are their preferred targets. In the areas they infest, you’ll notice a musky odor of urine. The presence of small, dark droppings and damage to chewed objects or gnawed threads should also be monitored.

During the winter

When temperatures drop significantly, these pests slip into all the warm spaces that can be found in warehouses, homes and even abandoned buildings. Even a badly damaged sewer pipe can become an interesting shelter for mice. Traces of their passage in the snow or scratches on the ice around the foundations can sometimes be seen. Inside homes, scratching noises, especially at night, are a sign of rodents in the attic, cellar or walls. In a dusty space, you may notice small paw prints.

The importance of reacting quickly

The presence of mice is a source of material and health risks. In fact, they can spread major pathologies such as salmonellosis, leptospirosis and hantavirus. These diseases affect both humans and pets. As a preventive measure, make sure your home is well protected against intrusion by mice and rats. Plug any inlets around windows, doors, foundations and cracks in walls. The sooner you react to the signs of these pests, the sooner the problem will be solved.

Pro tip:

An orderly, clean environment won’t attract rodent pests. Also avoid making food sources easily accessible to them. A mouse can squeeze into a space as small as a quarter.

“Do you know a good exterminator? I’ve got bedbugs in my house!

A professional exterminator is expensive: I’ve got a cousin (nephew, brother-in-law, neighbor…) who’ll fix it for you, so it doesn’t take much.

We often think that hiring a certified professional exterminator is expensive. You may be tempted to go it alone, or to use the services of a stranger who will turn out to be, at best, incompetent, and at worst, a swindler.

The situation will quickly turn into a nightmare, and the savings that were supposed to cost you hundreds, if not thousands, of euros will soon be gone. thousands of dollars Termite-infested furniture, contaminated bedding to be replaced, building structures at risk… pest infestations are not to be taken lightly, because the consequences can be catastrophic!

It’s best to consult an expert. But how can you be sure you’re calling in a professional exterminator? How to avoid unpleasant surprises? Why contact a professional exterminator?

Advice, tips: with over 50 years of experience at your service in Montreal, Exterminateurs Associés Inc. tells you all!

Why call in a professional exterminator?

Ants, spiders, field mice… we live with thousands of small organisms every day. While the presence of these bugs in our homes can be unpleasant, it’s easy to get rid of a few earwigs or a mouse. But sometimes we are confronted with a real infestation. Termites, bedbugs and other rodents become pests that need to be eliminated as soon as possible. We have two solutions

Commercial pest control products

In other words: pesticides. In cans or powder, they are the first-aid solution. But as well as being ineffective against a serious invasion, they can cause real health problems, especially inside the home. Health Canada strictly regulates pesticide use across the country. However, even authorized products contribute to soil contamination, and their overuse can cause considerable damage.

Hiring an exterminator

In the event of an obvious invasion, we’re quickly overwhelmed! Calling in an extermination expert is still the best way to eliminate invasive insects, vermin and rodents.

Among the most frequently encountered intruders :

Rodents: rats, mice and field mice are mainly found in attics and basements, but also in walls and plumbing. Don’t wait for the cold of winter to draw them into your living room, contact a pest control specialist.

Cockroaches: of all the household pets, the cockroach is the one that most disgusts us. These little bugs like warmth and darkness. The underside of our sinks, the back of our refrigerators and all the dark corners of the kitchen are 5-star hotels for them. They lay their eggs everywhere, even in food, and can cause serious poisoning. A professional exterminator will recommend the best insecticides and cockroach traps.

Bed bugs: does it itch and scratch? Your bed may well have become your worst enemy, thanks to this little insect that loves your bedding, but also your floors and wardrobes. A pest among pests, the bedbug is a scourge that feeds on your blood. Only a true extermination professional can rid you of this miniature, proliferating vampire.

How can I be sure I’m calling a professional exterminator?

Have you decided to entrust the sanitation of your home to a specialist? Well done! But how do you choose the professional who will save you the trouble?

Avoid unpleasant surprises

Before committing yourself to a professional extermination company, find out about its reputation:

How long has the company been in business? An exterminator with years of experience serving the public is a guarantee of professionalism and quality workmanship.

Does the company have a physical store in your town? In the event of a problem, it will be easier to contact them.

Will you be using a team or a single man? A team often offers greater flexibility and availability, so that work can be completed within reasonable deadlines.

Do they provide extermination services for professionals? Certified experts working for trade, industry and institutions are your assurance of reliability.

Are the vehicles branded? A well-established company doesn’t hide – quite the contrary.
Can they show proof of their expertise? An extermination professional must be able to produce physical certification documents that can be verified online.

Does the company have reviews on the Internet? Especially if there are many of them, favorable reviews are a good indication of the quality of the work. For less than three stars: flee!

Warning signs not to be missed

Sometimes, despite all the checks, you come across a lemon. Nevertheless, there are a few warning signs that should alert you immediately. Two examples:

You are dealing with a reputable company that sends you a different worker from the one who carried out the inspection: check the qualifications of the technician who will carry out the work at your home, and the legality of the products used.

You haven’t requested an inspection and someone shows up at your door. At best, you’re dealing with an unscrupulous craftsman, at worst, a potential burglar.

A recognized company that has the trust of its customers will give you all the guarantees you need to regain the comfort of your home. Your peace of mind is priceless. Choose quality and safety: you can be sure you’re working with a certified professional exterminator!

You’re planning to call an exterminator for an infestation problem, but you don’t know what to look for to make the best decision? Here are some tips to help you make a wise choice.

Tips for choosing the right pest control service

The pest control market is vast and it can become complicated to know how to choose an exterminator. Opting for a government-recognized pest control company is the best way to ensure that you hire a certified exterminator with an operating permit issued by the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques.

Ideally, choose exterminators who are members of a professional association such as the Association québécoise de la gestion parasitaire (AQGP). A certified exterminator must have the training and experience to identify what type of pest it is; he or she must be able to identify the areas to be treated, and then set up and implement an effective extermination program with the client’s approval.

Make sure that the pesticides or insecticides offered by this specialist are registered by the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) and that they will be used for the purpose for which they were designed. He or she must also be licensed to use these pesticides; you can ask to see their permit. It is always prudent to deal with a company that has liability insurance in case of an accident.

What types of pests can an exterminator eradicate?

Pest control experts have the know-how to handle the prevention, treatment and control of various species of unwanted invaders.

This may include:

Ants

Cockroaches

Cockroaches

Mice

Rats

Flies

Mosquitoes

Fleas

Bats

Hornet or wasp nests

Bees

Once the origin of the infestation is determined, a solution will be proposed to get rid of it. Depending on the type of pest and your agreement, different options can be considered by the exterminator in order to obtain an appropriate sanitization: baiting, trapping, fumigation, spraying, capturing and moving the animals to another location.

If you prefer a less invasive, holistic approach, ask the specialist if he or she uses Integrated Pest Management.

What is integrated pest management?

For decades, it has been common practice to use pesticides and insecticides based on chemical mixtures to get rid of unwanted pests. Unfortunately, many of these substances are harmful to the environment and biodiversity.

Every year, humans and domestic animals are also affected. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is based on the principle that not all pests are a threat; it proposes better pest management and, where possible, pest control rather than total extermination of the species.

This holistic approach adopted by some certified exterminators is a less aggressive solution because it limits the use of chemical pesticides to a minimum. These will only be used as a last resort and at a minimum, after having first experimented with different natural approaches.

This pest management method is based on the following five modes of action: inspection adapted to the type of pest, identification, control, prevention and documentation.

When should I call an exterminator?

The presence of a few mice or ants may seem trivial, but since these pests can reproduce very quickly, you could end up with an infestation. A problem taken care of in time is much easier to solve.
A specialized exterminator can confirm whether or not it is an infestation and provide you with solutions to treat or prevent it. In particular, if you are dealing with carpenter ants or bed bugs, or if you notice the presence of bees or wasp nests, calling on this expert becomes an urgent necessity.

In addition to the health problems that some pests can cause, they increase the risk of fire and can damage the structure of a home. A certified exterminator has the training and equipment to remove pests responsibly and safely, both for the occupants of the home and for the environment. The specialist usually provides tips on how to prevent pests from coming back to invade you.

What should the service contract contain?

It is a detailed document in which you must find the nature of the proposed services as well as their justification and the rates. Full contact information for the professional pest control company as well as the specific names of the products to be used (including their registration numbers) and the location of the areas to be treated must also be included.

Choose a pest control service that guarantees customer satisfaction on the contract. This implies that the exterminator who will visit you agrees to return to the site to ensure some follow-up or to provide emergency treatment if the pests concerned reappear.

Note: For your health and safety, you may be asked to evacuate your home by the pest control service during the operation.

Pesticide use – the use of pesticides outside buildings is regulated

In the province of Quebec, the use and storage of pesticides outside of buildings is governed by specific regulations.

Find out how to comply with the standards.

If you have a rat or mouse problem in or around your building, don’t hesitate to call our rat extermination service.

Regulations and licensing

Quebec law contains certain regulations regarding the use of pesticides. Quebec law contains certain regulations regarding the use of pesticides.

Each use must be recorded in an up-to-date logbook. Permit holders must submit this document, at the end of the year, to the city affected by this regulation.

For outdoor storage, sufficient distance from watercourses (and all water withdrawal sites) to avoid the risk of contamination must be provided. A violation of this regulation can result in a fine, whether it is an individual or a company. Revocation of this permit may be applied when the conditions of use of the products concerned are not respected.

*Any business that sells or uses pesticides in its commercial activity must apply for a permit. Sellers and users of these products are required to hold a certificate.

Pesticide use in cities

Municipalities must comply with pesticide regulations based on their local circumstances, but sometimes a problem can be difficult to resolve. For example, the increase in rats in Montreal is currently a concern.
This city regulates the use of pesticides and, since January 2022, 36 molecules used in the manufacture of pesticides are now prohibited. They are found in insecticides, fungicides, herbicides and rodenticides. Many of the products used to eradicate rats contain these molecules. In order to comply with the regulations, it is therefore essential for individuals or organizations wishing to use rat poison products to ensure that these molecules are not present.

The City of Montreal recommends, whenever possible, the use of biopesticides or other natural alternatives to protect the health of its citizens and the environment. Healthier alternatives for getting rid of pests are available at www.montreal.ca.

Commercial use

Commercial applicators are required to have an annual pesticide use permit. These include exterminators, farmers, foresters, golf course owners, nurserymen and landscapers, and lawn care and ornamental operators.

They usually use pesticides to eradicate…

mice, field mice, rats, wasp nests and ant nests
carpenter ;
– organisms harmful to the flora and survival of trees
– Poisonous plants (e.g. poison ivy, Giant Hogweed);
– organisms that attack domestic fowl and bees;
– or when it is an agricultural operation.

Upon obtaining their annual license, these individuals are added to the Official List of Commercial Pesticide Applicators in good standing. They should always keep the permit handy when using pesticides.

How do I obtain a pesticide use permit or certificate?

On the website www.quebec.ca, you can download free of charge online a model of the Pesticide Use Register and a certificate (the different categories of pesticide use certificate are mentioned).

All of our extermination services come with a free estimate and are backed by our guarantee. Call for more information.

It’s hard to find any redeeming value related to cockroaches in the home. To most people, the very sight of them elicits a range of emotions from fear to disgust and everything in between. If you are being victimized by a cockroach infestation, there are a couple of things on which you should be focusing. First, you need to figure out how you and your family might be accountable for the infestation. Second, you need to act fast because cockroaches can reproduce and grow at an alarming rate so the cockroach extermination can be done.

They also prefer a warmer, darker, and dryer environment, which is why they are always looking for indoor passages. It’s your job to make sure your home is not an environment they would appreciate.

To protect your house from a cockroach infestation, you have to start will getting into the habit of cleanliness. If you keep your food safely put away in sealed containers or the fridge, it would cut off a cockroach’s food supply. Also, you want to keep your floors and countertops wiped down and dry. Remember, a little bit of water can be a lot of water to the little cockroach. By the way, be on the lookout for plumbing leaks. That leaking water is a viable water supply for these little pests.

Finally, you can do yourself a big favor by keeping your outdoor areas clean and garbage-free. If a cockroach doesn’t get the invitation of your trash and outdoor facet water, they will keep on marching to the next house.

Where there is one, there will surely be more in short order. Remember, cockroaches can reproduce very quickly. They lay 25 to 50 eggs a batch per female. The eggs of most species will hatch within a month. At that point, they are mobile and can quickly become a nuisance in mass.

After hatching, it can take a cockroach 2 to 15 months to reach reproduction capability, depending on the species. Given the math, you can see that your window of opportunity to act could be short. If you see a couple of cockroaches over a day or two, eggs have likely been laid and you are weeks away from dozens of little critters running throughout your house, preparing to create more.

Home Remedies for Cockroach Extermination

Most home remedies include the use of household goods that act as poisons to cockroaches. Caution is warranted because some of these same chemicals can be poisonous to humans.

An old standard is baking soda. The smell of chopped onions and baking soda is quite appealing to cockroaches. Unfortunately for them, ingesting the baking soda creates enough tummy gasses to cause a cockroach to internally explode and die.

If you use Borax as a laundry product, you are already armed with a lethal weapon in the eyes of a cockroach. Ingesting Borax mixed with water causes them to dehydrate and die within minutes.

Another clever cockroach deterrent is lemon oil. They absolutely hate the very smell that humans love so much. If you get in the habit of using cleaning products containing lemon oil, they will quickly move on to other locations.

Bait traps or hotels offer a very fast remedy for a cockroach infestation. They can be either circular or tubular devices with an entrance and an embedded odor that cockroaches love. These devices also contain poisons that cockroaches will eat and carry back with them to their home base in your home. After passing the poison on to other members of the nest, you get to kill multiple roaches at the same time.

Glue Strips

Glue strips work for flies and mice. Why not cockroaches? You can purchase glue strips specifically designed for cockroaches with an embedded odor that draws them to the strip. Once they take that fatal step onto the strip, escape becomes impossible. They will struggle and eventually die from dehydration and lack of food. You can strategically place glue strips around appliances and plumbing fixtures for the best and fastest results.

Seal Entry Points to Help with Cockroach Extermination

Before and after an infestation, you should be diligent about checking your home for entry points for all kinds of pests. Every three months, take a tour of your home for potential issues. You can prevent initial entry by cockroaches if you can identify and seal off potential entry points with good caulking products. Places to look would include window/door gaps, cracked weather-stripping, and flooring/wall gaps and cracks. You might also want to check around built-in light fixtures.

Advice from an exterminator to prevent the invasion of rodents and insects in winter on the last blog of Exterminateurs Associés.

While we sometimes have the impression that the bugs disappear in the winter, this is not entirely the case. Indeed, while the majority of insects do not tolerate cold temperatures, many of them choose houses to shelter during the winter and find heat there. They can thus spread quickly, especially in humid and hot places. Therefore, it is important to react quickly as soon as you notice the presence of any insect.

Mice and rats in winter: prevent them

Rodent control is important. It is necessary to plan a good external verification to locate the possible entry points. Mice and rats can easily sneak inside homes to seek warmth and comfort, mostly through open or broken sewers. However, this climate of comfort, far from their predators, is also favorable to their reproduction. Without strict measures, these rodents can quickly enter your home, mainly invading the pantry for food. They will have no qualms about also integrating the cabinets and gnawing at the electrical wires. However, if ever a rat dies in the walls, the risk of other scavenging or dermal insects being born there is higher. Besides that, the smelly corpses will be the source of these unwanted insects that can invade any room. Otherwise, when it comes to mice, bait stations in different places around the house are needed as soon as a problem arises. The purchase of equipment from a rat and mouse exterminator in Montreal is recommended to avoid poisoning and favor environmentally friendly products.

Bedbugs and insects in winter: what to do after a trip

Many of you are taking advantage of the harsh Montreal winters to fly south. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for an insect infestation to occur after a trip. These unwanted little beings very often sneak into your luggage. Your luggage should therefore be quarantined in an isolated place such as a garage or cabin, while the contents should be immediately put in the washing machine or in a steam machine. Other fragile items must undergo meticulous cleaning before entering the house. These arrangements essentially prevent bed bug infestations inside the house. Since bed bugs mainly live in bedrooms, it pays to be vigilant. Especially since these bedbugs can have several consequences on the skin such as itching and stings. They can also leave their droppings on your mattresses and sheets. It is important to immediately call an exterminator in Montreal as soon as a suspected case arises. As a professional in this field, he will know how to intervene with the bed bug treatment which will suit you best.

Food moths are small, gray to beige butterflies that are likely to invade your kitchen.

Their larvae have the particularity of feeding on your stored food, for example flour, rice, spices, cereals, pasta or even animal feed .

Suffice to say that they are real pests and that if you are confronted with them, it will be urgent to get rid of them. The most drastic and the safest method is to bring in a exterminator in Montreal .

However, there are some alternatives when the degree of infection is not too advanced. Let’s try to go through a few of them.

Getting rid of food moths is not always easy!

5 tips to apply in case of their presence

Tip 1: Throw away all contaminated food

If you discover that food moths have infested your stored food, there will unfortunately be no other solution than to throw it all away. Worse, you will also have to part with any peripheral foods that are wrapped in cardboard or plastic. The latter are indeed ideal and popular places for the pests in question to lay their eggs. This radical action will be the price to pay to get rid of food moths, at least to start the decontamination process.

Tip 2: The big cleaning of your cupboards

Once your cupboards have been emptied, it will be time to consider a thorough cleaning of them. Don’t skimp on the means. You also have the option of using cleaning products. On the other hand, no need to play the apprentice chemist. If in doubt, call an exterminator, because only he will know exactly what products to use to sanitize your kitchen.

Tip 3: Plates soaked in pheromones

These plates are small traps, based on glue, for food moths. They are safe for food and have the ability to attract males. Once these are eradicated, females will no longer be able to impregnate. This method can be very interesting to complete the decontamination process when your cupboards are empty.

Tip 4: Get rid of food moths by purchasing jars

To prevent is to cure. Acquiring glass jars will be the best way to get rid of food moths or at least not to be confronted with them again. Then do not keep any packaging boxes or bags. Transfer flour, rice, pasta or other into the jars in question. Be careful, they must be perfectly airtight to fulfill their role.

Tip 5: Vacuum the closets

The idea here is to tackle all the nooks and crannies that could not necessarily be reached through cleaning. Vacuum all sensitive areas, such as screws or any cracks detected. If you find any items in poor condition, do not hesitate to change them.

As a conclusion

Remember that while these alternatives are great ways to get rid of food moths, in the majority of cases it is probably best to call a professional. exterminator in Montreal who is competent and licensed. The latter will be the only one able to totally eradicate these pests.

If your home is invaded by rodents or other pests, you will quickly be forced to seek an exterminator. The latter will be able to solve the problem as long as he is perfectly competent. In order not to make the wrong choice, it will be necessary to prepare some very specific questions to ask your future exterminator . This will allow you to sort it out and choose the most seasoned professional who can quickly and effectively deal with your problem.

Let’s review the different questions to ask your exterminator in order to make the best choice.

How to hire the best exterminator?

Defining in the preamble the questions to ask an exterminator will be very useful for you to gauge the skills of the coveted professional.

The first thing to do, however, will be to choose three to four exterminators working in your entourage. Prefer local professionals as much as possible. A simple query through your favorite search engine will be sufficient to complete this operation. Then it will be time to prepare your questions, taking care not to omit anything. Every detail will be important and it will be better to think about it beforehand to be sure that your exterminator fulfills all the conditions to carry out the planned work.

What questions should you ask your exterminator?

The first thing to check and ask will be whether the exterminator is certified and a member of the AQGP, namely Quebec Association of Parasite Management .

This will give you the assurance that the exterminator is working taking into account the standards in force while respecting the code of good practice. In general, this point can be prohibitive if the condition is not met, because it is essential to call on a certified exterminator .

Then find out if the company offers a free quote and try to get specific answers as to the methods used to eradicate the pests. It will also be important for the exterminator to clearly inform you of the number of visits to be made as well as the time it will take.

In addition, check that your exterminator offers a guarantee in relation to the work carried out and that he has planned a prevention plan so that the situation does not repeat itself in the future.

Contact with the exterminator

Your questions are ready and it is now time to contact the pre-selected exterminators in order to get a more precise idea of their skills.

If you come across a professional unwilling to answer your questions or in a hurry, move on immediately. Visiting an exterminator is not something you can improvise and it must fully meet your expectations.

Over the phone, you will need to be able to make sure that the person you ask is professional, polite and knowledgeable. Once you have made the calls, compare your notes and try to determine which exterminator is best suited to intervene in your home. Take into account that deadlines and guarantees are as important as the price of the service. You will then be able to request a quote and close the deal.
